Plants found at Bukit Timah Reserves, Singapore

Went to this place few days ago. The last time I paid a visit was years back. This time I equipped with Canon S90, which is a compact little camera and tried to capture animals and plants in that area.

These were the shots that I have captured during the trip.

My First Lightning Shot

This is my first lightning shot in my entire photography history. It was capture on 17 Nov 2009, around 7pm just outside of my window. That night, the lightnings strike many times, as if the whole sky is going to collapse.

Bukit Timah Reserve

Today (17th Nov 2009), I spent the whole day re-visited Bukit Timah Reserve. The last time I visited there was two years back. I walked for almost 4 hours. Chosen tracks that I had not walked before. Captured quite few good shots. I posted some of them here first. The rest will be uploaded in future.

Strangely, I saw some animals that were rarely seen somewhere else in Singapore. Such as the little green snake, the rare color kingfisher, monitor lizard and local monkeys. The ant eater, owl and tiger were the stuffed animals displayed in the visitors' center.

If you believe everyone has his talent, then give him the opportunity, he would shines like the sun in his own way. Look around yourself, there are so many colours around you, they are contributed by various types of life form.

Life is an illusion

Life is an illusion, but people always take it so hard, and results to tragedies. You may not agree with me, but if you believe it's real, you would get hurt easily.

门之外 (Outside of the door)

人过不惑之年，感触良多。每日阅报，总见各种不幸的事，满眼扑来。人生， 真的如此痛苦吗？若想深一层，其实真正的关键，是社会的制度， 造成种种人为的压力， 令一些心理较为薄弱的， 感到事事皆不如意，各种不幸的事，便层出不穷。 唉哉！

Blood Tests

Recently, I felt that it was time for me to go for a blood test, as there were so many sudden deaths happened these days. The deaths could be cost by lipids or cholesterol particles. Without the blood test we would not be able to find out the contents in our blood.

So I went to my neighborhood doctor and requested the test. The most painful thing was not the needle, but the pre-test fasting. I need to fast for 12 hours before the test.

Finally the tests results came back. Hooray! Everything is within the normal standard. I am very pleased with the record. I also realized that it could be my regular exercise that contributed to these good results. My HDL Cholesterol is 56 mg/dl which is 32% more than the norm. The bad Cholesterol (LDL) is 116 mg/dl, which is 11% less than the norm. Glucose in blood is on the low side, that means the risk of diabetes would not be high. Despite of my drinking habit, my liver is fine (Refer to Liver Profile). The only concern is the Uric Acid, which is near to the norm; but comparing with my previous record, it was far lower than before.

See, for those who do not like to do exercise, this old man has proven that exercise, especially regular exercise really improved one's health!

Lonesome Town

This was a song sang by Ricky Nelson in the early 60s.The title is lonesome town. It was also my second English song that I came across at that time.

So surprise that someone has this clip and uploaded it on Youtube.

Car Drifts

According to WikiHow, Car Drift defines as: a driving technique and a motor sport where a car slides at an angle, with its side moving in the direction of the turn.

To do the drift you need to: 1. Set up a cone in the middle of a safe area of tarmac. Drive up to the cone and rip the handbrake in an attempt to do a 180 degree handbrake turn. Practice this until you are no more, and no less than 180 degrees from when you started.

2. Learn how to counter-steer by ripping the handbrake from a speed of 30-40mph (anything less will cause an inadequate amount of momentum to get you around the cone) and trying to control the car to a destination until the car stops.

3. Increase speed of each of these things until you are comfortable

4. Try to do the 180 cone too

You would have other consideration such as using front wheel drive car or rear wheel drive car; clutch kick techniques, hand brake technique and so on.

It is becoming a sport in Singapore and getting popular.

But personally, I do not enjoy it. I rather watch a car stunt show than this. No offence to the car drifters. : )

Bird Photography

Singapore Bird Park is always a nice place for capturing birds' activities. If you go at the right timing, you will be rewarded good photographs. Today, I went to the Bird Park. Witnessed different birds doing different activities where I could hardly see them doing it. It could be the weather, or their 'Bird' mood. : )

This is the first song clip DIY by me. I am trying out my video editing skill and compiling visual with audio clip by using very primitive equipment.

有关張国荣

本来对張国荣一点认识都没有，虽然他曾是一名紅极一时的歌手。但今夜我却被他的名字给吸引着。国荣，正是我逝去的大弟的名字。可能就是这点相似吧。 我便上网去查看他的曲目。結果，我发现自己竟然喜歡上他的那首‘风继续吹’。後来，又发现他唱另一首‘风再继续’。此曲竟成他最末一首绝唱。它的歌词都显 示出他要走的最末一段路的历程。

对他的逝去，我不欲做评语。但他的生平，有部份与大弟的一生有类似之處：早逝。只是，他在走前，犹留下蛛絲马迹，让人寻覓。吾弟却是默然而逝，空留模糊的记忆。哀哉！

命若炊烟，瞬然而逝。在世者，且得珍惜每一天的日子，好好活出色彩缤纷的一生，才不会虚渡此行！
