Cos-play models at the Game and Toy Show

First time attempt to take some photos of this breed of youngsters who spent lots of time and money in making their comic characters to live! I admired their dedication and creative acts. The following photos are the evidence to prove what I said was accurate.

Even the stall asistant also has that Cos-play look!

Orchard Road

It has been long time I visited Orchard Road. Simple reasons: I do not like the busy crowds and noisy environment there. But with special offer from Kinokuniya Bookstore, I have no choice but to make myself there. The trip has no regret, as I have bought several books on strength and conditioning with 20% discount.

On the way back, I took the opportunity to take a few shots there. These are the shots I have taken.

A beautiful crafted stone lion in front of Takashimaya Departmental Store.

The buzzing Orchard Mall.

This poor mini lion was force to face the wall. What would it be thinking?

Master Max Liu

My portrait done by Master Max Liu

Great Artist Master Max Liu 刘其伟(Taiwan)

Master Max Liu is a great artist in the modern Taiwan art history. His style of painting is simple and direct. Looking at his painting, you would feel as if you are looking at a cheerful child playing. Your heart will fill with joy!

I was so grateful that I had the opportunity to learn with him in the early 80s, when I was taking my diploma course at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in Singapore. Master Max Liu was a visiting artist then, and taught us water colour painting for a short while. I was so lucky that he had chosen me as the model of portrait painting class, and painted my portrait.

As a teacher, Master Max Liu was extremely approachable, knowledgeable and sometimes witty and playful. He was over 60s then, but still behave as a curious youngster. He had no problem communicating with youngsters in the class. Everyone enjoyed his teaching, and learned a lots from his water colour painting skills. Until these days, I still missed him for his gentle way of teaching and wealth of knowledge in painting.

Details of Master Max Liu could be found at the following website, but it is in Chinese, as he is from Taiwan:
You could see other pieces of works in this website.

My Mount Kinabahru Climbing Trip in 1996

Found several old photographs that record my trip to KK in year 1996. The Team Members were my colleagues at Bukit Batok Secondary School, with the Principal Mr Lim Lye Chuan. The age group of this team was from 30s to 40s. Before the trip, we had our weekly physical training heading by the PE head, Mr. Ong N. A. We ran 5.4km at our best speed. Then followed by stretching and other physical training.

When we reached the peak of KK, we realised all the efforts were worth it. We reached the second highest mountain of South East Asia. What an achievement!

I was shagged at this point! Temperature freezing, and the body was sweaty wet!

Other shot at the top of the mountain.

At half way, the clouds were below our feet, what a strange feeling!

At the Summit, tired tired tired!

At the foot of the mountain.

The entrance of the track.

KK Museum

Somewhere along the way to the peak. Can't remember the exact spot.

This was the half way house, we spent half a night rest in here, and started the up climbing journey at 2.30am.

Shintarō Katsu

Recently I bought the old movie directed by Shintaro Katsu. Shintaro was my farorite actior. I watched his 'Blind Swordman' series at Rex Theatre, Magazine Road during the 60's. There were almost 10 to 12 series of it. I would never miss, if it was in the theatre, as I admired his sword playing skills as well as his ethtical values.

The photographs here are the screen shots of his last movie done in 1988.

The following is the information extracted from Wikipedia.

Shintarō Katsu ( 新太郎 Shintarō Katsu?), born Toshio Okumura (奥村 利夫 Okumura Toshio, November 29, 1931June 21, 1997; nicknamed Katsu-shin) was a Japanese actor, singer, producer, anddirector. He was the son of kabuki performer Katsutoji Kineya (Kineya Katsutōji) who was renowned for his nagauta and shamisen skills, younger brother of actor Tomisaburo Wakayama (Wakayama Tomisaburō), husband of actress Tamao Nakamura (married in 1962), and father of actor Ryutaro Gan (Gan Ryūtarō).

His best known role was as blind Yakuza anma (masseur) Zatoichi in the series of films by the same name, which were very popular in the 1960s and 1970s. Katsu played Zatoichi in 25 movies between 1962 and 1973, starred and directed a 26th in 1989 and played the role in four seasons of a spin-off television series, the role comprising almost 30 years of his career.

Katsu became a force to be reckoned with within the Japanese entertainment industry during his long and varied career, not the least of which was the company Katsu Productions, which was formed after the closing of Daiei Studios. By all appearances Katsu Productions' focus was on producing film and television that challenged the established values of its industry, presenting many films that pushed the limits of their time. Though not always initially artistically appreciated, many of these films have gone on to be considered classics (The Goyokiba and Kozure Okami series, etc.). Introducing more intense themes of sex and violence, the influence of many of these films can still be found in contemporary Japanese cinema.

Parrot as Pet

Recently I visited Serangoon North Ave 2, where many pet bird shops were around. I saw my favourite Yellow Nape Amazon baby parrots for sale, the price is as high as S$5000.00 each. I kept this bird before, that was twenty years back. I bought it with the cost of $1500.00

The bird stayed with me for ten over years. It witnessed my son Kelvin from baby to 9 years old. They became playing partners at home, since Kelvin is the only kid at home then.

Unfortunately, the bird died of pneumonia; partially I sent him to a dog vet rather than a bird vet specially. I was depressed for long long time, and decided not to keep any pet at all.

The bird was extremely intelligent. It mimics both languages: English and Mandarin. At the later stage, it even could respond to my greeting or questions.

Attached here are three clips taken from YouTube, to show other bird keepers of the same kind demonstrating their talented bird in terms of talking or singing capabilities.
